Types of Transformer Test Bench Panels

1. Manual Transformer Test Panel

• Uses analog meters and manual switches to conduct tests.

2. Semi-Automatic Transformer Test Panel

• Combines digital meters, relays, and push buttons for faster testing.

Tests Conducted Using Transformer Test Bench Panels

1. No-Load Test (Open Circuit Test)

• Measures core losses and magnetizing current at rated voltage.

2. Short Circuit Test (Load Loss Test)

• Determines copper losses, impedance voltage, and efficiency at rated current.

3. Insulation Resistance Test

• Checks the dielectric strength of transformer insulation using a Megger.

4. Induced Voltage Test

• Verifies insulation strength by applying twice the rated voltage at a higher frequency.

5. High Voltage (HV) Withstand Test

• Ensures the primary and secondary windings can withstand high voltage surges.

6. Turns Ratio Test

• Confirms the turns ratio of primary and secondary windings using a TTR Meter.
